The walks in Beechworth take you through some of Australia's most renowned historic sites. Within the township you will find streetscapes of preserved historic buildings and as you venture a little further you will find remnants and marvels of the gold mining era and spectacular views. In your wanders you may be passing the hideout of the Kelly Gang or what was once a teeming village of miners’ tents.
If you're looking for a guided experience, try the Echoes of History Tour or the Ned Kelly Tour which both depart from the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre and provide an insight into the rich history and stories of this fascinating town.
If you plan to undertake a walk in bushland, be sure to let someone know where you are heading and what time you expect to return. Take appropriate clothing, snacks and water.
Download a PDF version of our Walks Guide, or if you're seeking a printed version copies are available at the Visitor Information Centre. The staff at the Beechworth Visitor Information Centre are a wealth of knowledge and take bookings for guided tours.
